Horseback Riding Lessons
Riders, under the instruction of professionals certified by the CHA (Certified Horsemanship Association) or ARIA (American Riders Instruction Association), learn the fundamentals of riding, and receive instruction in:
- General Horse Care & Nutrition
- Riding Preparation
- English Style Riding Technique
- Ring Riding
- Trail Riding
Camp Jewell requires that all riders wear ASTM/SEI certified riding helmets when in proximity to horses. Riders may bring their own helmet or borrow a camp helmet. Riders are also required to wear sturdy shoes or boots that have a small heel. Long pants are recommended. Dress should be weather appropriate.

Sunday Lessons
September 12 - October 31 (no lessons during Columbus Day Weekend)
$175 (7/1-hour lessons)
1:00pm to 2:00pm Intermediates and Advanced Riders
2:30pm to 3:30pm Beginners (need to gain confidence)
3:45pm to 4:45pm Intermediates (comfortable trotting)
Monday Lessons
September 13 - October 25
$175 (7/1-hour lessons)
3:30pm to 4:00pm Intro for 4 and 5 year olds (half-hour rate, $85)
4:00pm to 5:00pm Beginners (need to gain confidence)
5:00pm to 6:00pm Intermediates (comfortable trotting)
Tuesday Lessons
September 7-October 26
$195 (7/1-hour lessons)
1:00pm to 2:00pm Homeschool Intermediate
2:30pm to 3:30pm Homeschool Beginner
3:30pm to 5:00pm SMCC
5:00pm to 6:00pm Adult Intermediates (have cantering experience)
5:00pm to 6:00pm Advanced Intermediate (comfortable trotting/moving beyond basics)

Additional Activities & Rates
$35 per person for a one hour trail ride (minimum of 2 people)
$50 per hour for private riding lessons (6 hour minimum, please call for availability)
